Missing April suspect was ‘known to family’

The man arrested over the abduction of missing five-year-old April Jones was known to her family, it emerged last night.

Mark Bridger, 46, from Machynlleth, was on foot when detained by police – less than 24 hours after April was seen getting into a van on the quiet housing estate where she lives.

Last night a vehicle was being examined by forensics teams and Mr Bridger was facing questions from detectives.
