RAF top guns gather to put war training to test
Moray’s airbase was as busy as Gatwick Airport yesterday, with 40 aircraft jetting off the runway within a 90-minute period.
A total of 19 Tornado, Typhoon and Gripen jets roared off the runway at RAF Lossiemouth in less than 15 minutes, leaving trees glistening in an oily haze of hot gasses.
The activity was part of the Combined Qualified Weapons Instructor (CQWI) course, which has brought together some of the RAF’s top pilots to be trained and assessed over the next two weeks.
