Red alert as villagers barricade phone box

NORTH villagers yesterday manned the barricades and threw a ring of steel around an iconic red phone box they are desperate to save.

And some said last night they are prepared to mount a human blockade to stop the historic payphone being hauled away.

Residents of Kilmuir on the Black Isle were horrified when a lorry with a crane turned up to remove the kiosk which has been a landmark in the picturesque former fishing village for decades.
