Hero doctor saves life of worker in pit ordeal

A HERO medic worked in darkness at the bottom of a concrete pit to save a man’s life after his arm was dragged into machinery at a grain store.

Pam Hardy helped free the badly bleeding worker and stabilised him before he was airlifted to hospital.

The man – named locally as 55-year-old John Thomson – is understood to have lost part of an arm in the incident.
