Cameron pledges mission to halt long-term decline

David Cameron has unveiled his mission to build an “aspiration nation” to halt Britain’s long-term decline.

The prime minister came out fighting as he closed the Conservative conference yesterday, refocusing his political strategy and drawing “battle lines” for the next UK general election.

He pointedly refused to apologise for his family’s wealth — insisting he did not seek to defend privilege but “spread it”.
