Deluge set to hit north-east

Motorists have been warned to take care on the roads as heavy rain is set to batter the north-east from later today.

An amber weather warning has been issued for the Grampian region and experts predict that almost a month’s average rainfall may hit the area in less than two days.

Met Office forecasters said the mercury is to rise over the rest of the week – but the warmer conditions will bring heavy rain from tonight until Saturday morning, with around 3.15in possible locally.
