Decision days away in battle over bypass

JUDGES at the UK’s highest court are just days away from saying yes or no to plans for Aberdeen’s long-awaited bypass.

Lords Hope, Kerr, Dyson, Reed and Carnwath will deliver a written ruling next week on the wrangle between campaigner William Walton and the Scottish Government.

SNP ministers backed the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) in 2009 after a public inquiry – but the project was stalled when Mr Walton and protest group RoadSense launched legal challenges.
