Use oil fund to help UK poor, says Ming

North Sea oil and gas revenues should be fed into a UK-wide fund to tackle poverty and deprivation, according to the Liberal Democrats.

The idea – in the party’s blueprint for Scottish home rule – has put them on a collision course with the SNP, who believe just Scotland should benefit.

A report, which the Lib Dems have put forward as an alternative to independence, proposes a federal system of government with regional and national parliaments.
