Blizzards bring misery on roads as winter hits

BLIZZARDS across the north-east led to treacherous conditions last night as the region was hit with a severe wintry blast.
Cars skidded off roads, buses and lorries got stuck, and flights were cancelled as overnight temperatures fell as low as -5C – colder than the Russian capital, Moscow.
Conditions were described as chaotic in Aberdeen, with a number of main roads, including the A90 near the Haudagain roundabout and Westburn Road, rendered almost impassable until gritters arrived. Side roads were also badly affected.
