I knew Vernon had what it took early on, says Balmer

Ross County first-team and under-20 coach Stuart Balmer was a grizzled veteran when he first met a young, wiry Scott Vernon at Oldham.

Now as part of the Staggies coaching team he has singled out the 28-year-old attacker as the Dons danger man ahead of the first SPL game between the clubs at Victoria Park tomorrow.

Vernon has netted four times in 14 games for Craig Brown’s men, who sit third in the table two points off leaders Celtic.
