Russell refuses to step down amid college row

Education Secretary Mike Russell refused to step down last night amid opposition calls for his head.

“Let me tell you what’s going on, I'm going on,” he said at the end of a stormy day at Holyrood.

A week after Alex Salmond first apologised for providing inaccurate figures showing college budgets had increased this year when the reverse was true – and Mr Russell’s similar apology on Tuesday – the issue continued to dominate parliamentary business yesterday.
