Motorists warned to expect flash freeze of icy conditions

Motorists across the north and north-east are being warned to take care on the roads as a “flash freeze” grips the region.
Temperatures were due to plummet to -5C last night, causing widespread frost and ice.
Rain is expected to give way to snow and settle over some higher areas over the next few days, with significant amounts due on Sunday night.
