Drivers face 50-mile detour after lorry fire

THE main road to the Highlands was closed for more than 12 hours yesterday after a dramatic lorry fire.
Motorists were forced to detour 50 miles through Grantown and Nairn for about eight hours until the A9 Inverness-Perth route was partially reopened.
The Tesco lorry was travelling north in the early hours when the driver noticed flames shooting from under the trailer south of Slochd Summit, 20 miles from Inverness.
