Drama as climber plunges off frozen waterfall

A CLIMBER plunged 50ft from a frozen waterfall in the Highlands after a falling block of ice weighing more than 10 tonnes knocked her off the face.

The woman suffered head, chest and back injuries but was saved from a worse fate by her harness and a safety rope.

The unnamed climber was left dazed and disoriented and dangling in mid-air. Her male climbing partner, who was higher up the waterfall and was not struck by the ice, had to lower her to the ground.
