Stevie’s Guizer Jarl dream becomes reality

It is the day one Shetland man has been dreaming about for 15 years – the moment he becomes the first person in his family to become Guizer Jarl at Lerwick’s Up Hella Aa.

Stevie Grant, 53, will lead a squad of 59 men and 11 children through the streets of his home town tomorrow as part of the annual celebrations.

Revellers from across the globe are descending on the island’s capital for the event, which culminates in the ceremonial burning of a replica Viking longboat.
