All hands on deck as Viking longship gets final touches

Finishing touches were being carried out yesterday to a beautifully-crafted longship which is due to go up in flames tonight.

The prominent dragon-headed vessel will take centre stage in the annual celebrations at Up-Helly-Aa in Lerwick.

Stevie Grant, who will lead the proceedings in his role as Guizer Jarl, has overseen every detail in the building of the galley, and will be one of the first to set her alight.
