Mergers and closures loom in massive schools shake-up

SIX Aberdeen primary schools would merge into three as part of a planned shake-up of education provision revealed by city council leaders last night.

A raft of proposals – including amalgamations in the Bridge of Don, Northfield and Kincorth areas – are on the table for a crunch meeting at the town house on Thursday.

The new strategy would also involve a £14million investment programme to refurbish Victorian-era buildings to make the ageing stock fit for the 21st century.
