Shepherds and dogs in icy loch rescue drama

TWO shepherds and their dogs were plunged into the icy waters of a Highland loch yesterday when their boat capsized as they ferried rams to the mainland.

One of the men and his dog were washed ashore on the vessel – he was on top of the upturned hull and his animal trapped in an air pocket underneath it.

But the other shepherd was rescued after a quick-thinking passerby saw the drama unfold in the early afternoon.
