Alert over deadly gas from wood fuel after nine killed

FUEL being used to heat homes and schools across the north and north-east could be putting lives at risk.

The Health and Safety Executive has issued an urgent warning about deadly carbon monoxide fumes released by the biofuel used to fire popular wood pellet boilers.

Nine deaths have now been linked to the pellets – which safety chiefs have warned can become deadly if not stored properly.
