Underpass could pave way for town’s growth

PLANS have been unveiled to revamp one of the north-east’s busiest roads, paving the way for a major expansion of an Aberdeenshire town.
A section of the A96 Aberdeen-Inverness road could be changed dramatically, with the roundabouts at Thainstone and Port Elphinstone being removed and replaced with an underpass.
The proposals, outlined in the Inverurie South Development Framework, have been drawn up in an attempt to ease congestion before hundreds more homes are built in the town.
