Job axe poised in fight to save Moray millions

PLANS to slash millions of pounds from Moray Council’s budget have left staff across the departments in the firing line.
Classroom assistants and library workers are likely to bear the brunt of the cuts – but community support staff and officers could also face redundancy. Hours could be reduced in other services, vacant posts could be axed and other workers may simply not be replaced when they retire.
Documents obtained by the Press and Journal detailing options to save £4million indicate that about 40 of the region’s 129 classroom assistants are facing potential redundancy.
