Climber dies after going to on mountain friend’s rescue
A climber has died on a Highland mountain after bravely going to help a friend who had fallen into a snow-filled corrie.
A major search operation involving 112 people from the police, RAF and mountain rescue teams was launched when the party of six men were reported overdue in the Cairngorms.
The hillwalker’s body was found shortly after lunchtime close to avalanche debris below a route called Jacob’s Ladder in Coire an t-Sneachda, a popular climbing spot.
