Police quiz politician’s wife in hate mail probe

THE wife of a former Moray politician has been questioned by police investigating a hate campaign against the councillor who took his seat.
Officers visited Joan Stewart, whose husband David was a shock casualty in last year’s local government elections, at the weekend.
They questioned her over allegations that abusive letters were sent to former SNP Heldon and Laich councillor Carolle Ralph, who stepped down in December claiming she had been “hounded out of office”. Police confirmed last night they had concluded their investigation into the hate mail, which is understood to have involved nearly 10 hand-written letters.
