Hostel passed fire inspection

A fire chief confirmed yesterday that the north brigade recently carried out a safety inspection of the former Easter Ross hotel which was evacuated as flames leapt from the building.

No one was hurt in the fire, which broke out at the former Royal Hotel on the corner of High Street and Hill Street at Dingwall at around 3am on Monday.

The hotel and surrounding properties were evacuated and the streets around the hotel were closed throughout the day on Monday.
