Windfarm ‘fatal threat’ to most beautiful landscape

Building a windfarm above Loch Ness would “fatally damage” some of the north’s most beautiful landscapes, it was claimed yesterday.

The Mountaineering Council of Scotland and the John Muir Trust are calling on Highland councillors to reject SSE’s proposals for Stronelairg on the Garrogie Estate.

Members of the south planning applications committee meet tomorrow to debate plans for 83 turbines, each more than 443ft high, in the Monadhliath Mountains above Fort Augustus.
