Council accused over alliance with Al Fayed

HIGHLAND Council has been criticised for joining forces with Mohamed Al Fayed to fight plans for a £43million incinerator – when the multimillionaire wants to build a 100-home development nearby.

The local authority has been warned about a potential conflict of interest when considering his housing proposals at the same time.

Last night, concerned locals questioned how the council could both work closely with the developer and make an impartial decision on nearby land.
