Police force quiet over cuts in opening hours

Northern Constabulary will cut public opening hours at eight police stations throughout the Highlands and islands from next month – when the new Scottish Police Service is launched.

But last night the force refused to reveal full details of the stations involved and what their new hours would be, despite concerns about the impact of the changes on staff and communities.

It was also not clear when the public-access decision was taken or whether there was local consultation.
