Children lose out on lessons in water row
HUNDREDS of children were forced to stay home from school yesterday during a furious row over access to a water main.
The new Ben Wyvis Primary School was the scene of the standoff with local resident Ian MacPhail involving police, water officials, contractors and the head teacher, while parents scrambled to make last-minute childcare arrangements.
The £8million school at Conon Bridge had to remain closed because the water supply had been cut off and Mr MacPhail, 44, had parked his car over the stopcock in his driveway to prevent anyone turning it back on without his permission.
