Baxters issues assurance amid horse meat scandal

Food giant Baxters issued assurances to customers yesterday as several other firms were forced to admit their products contained horsemeat.

The Speyside-based group said it would continue to carry out tests and that it had no links with companies which are already affected by the scandal.

It emerged yesterday that beef products sold by Birds Eye, restaurant chain Taco Bell and catering supplier Brakes had been found to contain equine DNA.
