School hours cut on table

Proposals for a shorter school week which were mooted but then rejected by Highland councillors last year could be revisited because of “significant financial pressures”.

Despite being criticised during a public consultation, the local authority has admitted that the idea could be up for consideration again for the 2015-2016 school years.

The disclosure was made after a question was submitted by Lochaber councillor Andrew Baxter for the full Highland Council meeting on Thursday.
