‘Army shake-up has betrayed our communities’

The UK Government was accused of “betraying” Scottish communities last night over a series of broken promises about Army numbers.
Labour and the SNP rounded on the coalition after the latest military shake-up was revealed – but Defence Secretary Philip Hammond claimed Scotland was getting more than its “fair share” of troops.
The row erupted after it was announced that basing changes will mean the number of Army personnel in Scotland increases by 800, and the number across the three defence services goes up by 600.
