Union fears big staff drop with new force

Concerns have been raised that Scotland’s new police force will fall significantly behind its counterparts in England and Wales in terms of support workers.
Trade union Unison has seized on a report which showed the number of support staff, mostly women, has fallen by 11% in four years.
The study prepared for the union by Glasgow firm Stewart Research and presented to MSPs last night shows the supposed benefits of having a balanced team.
