Return of trams could get city back on track

Bringing back trams and using historic roads under Aberdeen are among new proposals to regenerate Union Street.

Developments along the harbour front – similar to those along the Thames in London – are also being suggested by a 10-strong group of architectural, retail and tourism experts brought together to consider the state of the city centre.

Robert Gordon University principal Ferdinand von Prondzynski convened the panel following the local authority’s controversial decision to abandon £140million plans for a transformation of Union Terrace Gardens.
