A TEENAGER was locked up for five months yesterday for stealing a raft of valuables – including a diamond engagement ring – from a Moray home.

Keen footballer Duncan Murdoch, 19, admitted breaking into the house in Milnefield Avenue, Elgin, on August 15 last year while on bail from Inverness Sheriff Court.

He pleaded guilty to stealing more than £500 in cash, a games console, computer and cables, a digital camera, two mobile phones, two memory cards, luggage and keys. The teenager also took jewellery, including a diamond ring, necklace, a set of earrings and a charm bracelet.
