Shock at cost of school meals

Schools meals in Aberdeenshire are the cheapest in Scotland to produce, figures released yesterday suggested.

They showed the local authority spends just £1.68 on each lunch – £1.15 less than the national average.

The news shocked MSPs who questioned how the council could provide high- quality meals in primary and secondary schools at such a low cost.
