Highland Council top of league for job cuts

HIGHLAND Council has shed more jobs than any other local authority in Scotland over the past two years.

Statistics released yesterday revealed it reduced its workforce by 2,900 to 10,000 between the first quarter of 2010 and the third quarter of last year.

The figures were made public by trade union GMB, which analysed Scottish Government and Office of National Statistics data.
