Crashes and chaos as thick snow sweeps in

HEAVY snowfall caused chaos across the north-east yesterday as winter returned with a vengeance.

And the region has not seen the last of the freezing weather as plummeting temperatures could return next week.

Treacherous conditions led to a spate of crashes and long tailbacks as motorists struggled on snow-hit roads.

Transport to schools in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire was badly affected, with some forced to close, and flights were delayed at Aberdeen Airport.
