Drive to lure German tourists

They are the butt of many jokes involving beach towels and sun loungers – but now German holidaymakers are being wooed by tourism bosses in the north-east.

Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils have joined forces with VisitScotland to mount a major campaign targeting consumers in Frankfurt and the surrounding area.

The five-week promotion aims to make the most of 2013’s status as the Year of Natural Scotland by capitalising on the German love of the outdoors.
