Defence chief salutes Army move to airbase

DEFENCE Secretary Philip Hammond has hailed the Army’s move to a former Moray airbase as a great example of the UK Government “getting it right”.

He was speaking after meeting members of 39 Engineer Regiment and their families at Kinloss Barracks – which used to be the home of Britain’s fleet of Nimrod surveillance planes.

He visited the camp on the day sappers marked the end of a gruelling five-week training course with a parade watched by proud relatives and friends.
