Dons ready to hit next level with new man

One door at Aberdeen is closing for Craig Brown but the retiring manager is satisfied with the calibre of squad his successor will inherit at Pittodrie.

Former Scotland manager Brown has announced he is to retire as soon as a new manager is in place at Pittodrie. But he claims, unlike 2010 when Brown took charge of a Dons side adrift at the bottom of the SPL following the ill-fated Mark McGhee regime which left morale at the club rock bottom, the future is bright for the Dons.

He said: “Whoever comes in is taking over a very good squad of players. Ryan Jack and Clark Robertson are in the Scotland under-21s and Joe Shaughnessy is an Irish under-21 international. That's with having to sell Ryan Fraser and Jack Grimmer.
