Women cheat death as car smashes into shop

TWO women said they were lucky to be alive yesterday after a car smashed through their shop window.

Sarah MacKenzie, 32, and Polly Barton, 39, are convinced they would have been killed if they had been standing at the counter – which was crushed in the crash.

Miss MacKenzie had been behind the till at Waterstones bookshop in Aviemore just minutes before the accident, but was saved when she left to do some cleaning while the store was quiet.
