Drivers on alert for worst blizzards yet

THE worst blizzards of the winter are due to hit the north-east today – 12 months after the region was in the middle of a heatwave.
Severe weather warnings have been issued and almost 10 inches of snow is expected to have fallen by tonight. Commuters are likely to face travel chaos this morning on the area’s main roads.
A Met Office spokesman said the cocktail of conditions would make travel treacherous for motorists.
