Scots share pain of Osborne cuts

Chancellor George Osborne will launch a fresh round of public spending cuts in today’s Budget – and slash an additional £100million from Scottish Government funds.

He is expected to order Whitehall departments to make savings of about £2.5billion, with the proceeds to be invested in capital projects designed to kick-start growth.

Mr Osborne and Danny Alexander, Highland MP and chief treasury to the Treasury, briefed Cabinet about the plan yesterday.
