Benefit cheat seeks more public cash for appeal

A FORMER councillor branded a liar by a sheriff is trying to blame his solicitor for his conviction for benefit fraud.
Shamed John Holden swindled taxpayers out of tens of thousands of pounds – and is now hoping to get more money from the public purse to fund his latest bid to clear his name.
The Press and Journal has already revealed that he was granted more than £10,000 in legal aid to fight allegations that he cheated the system to claim £43,000 to which he was not entitled.
