It’s wails for Scotland

Shaun Maloney was bitterly disappointed Scotland were unable to mark Gordon Strachan's first competitive match in charge of Scotland with a World Cup qualifying victory last night.

Grant Hanley headed the opener for the Scots just before half-time at Hampden but an Aaron Ramsey penalty and a Hal Robson-Kanu header in the space of two minutes leaves the Scots trailing at the bottom of Group A with only two points from their opening five matches.

The Wigan attacker said the turning point came when Robert Snodgrass was dismissed for a second bookable offence for a challenge on Chris Gunter which led to the penalty from Ramsey, who also saw red in the final minute.
