Injury waiting game for Scot Stephen
Stephen Gallacher will discover today whether he is fit enough to play in the Irish Open this week after his season-long back injury flared up again in Open qualifying yesterday.
The Press and Journal columnist lasted just 18 holes of the 36-hole international qualifier at Sunningdale before admitting defeat in his bid to win a place at Muirfield next month.
Gallacher, who shot a three-over-par 73 in the first round, was left to rue his lack of practice in a disappointing day but hopes his back woes will not rule him out of the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart next month.
