Highest number of Scots in work for over four years
Scotland’s economy continued its post-recession fightback as new figures revealed that employment is now at its highest level for four years.
Official statistics for the period April to June showed a total of 2,531,000 people in employment – a rise of 13,000 over the quarter and 31,000 higher than for the same period last year. That is the highest total since the start of 2009, according to the Scottish Government.
It also comes just 24-hours after Scots retailers announced record breaking growth figures.
