Celtic supporters could face a police investigation after a smoke flare was set off during Saturday’s Scottish Premiership match in Aberdeen.

More than 20,000 fans packed Pittodrie Stadium to see the Dons take on the reigning champions. The match passed without major incident, but a green flare was set off in the away supporters’ section shortly after Celtic forward Georgios Samaras was brought down in the box by Dons goalie Jamie Langfield.

The foul resulted in a spot kick for the Bhoys – and a red card for the Aberdeen keeper – sparking celebrations among the travelling support.
