Fears on Coastguard staffing
A trade union has raised fresh concerns about “deeply troubling” staff shortages at key Coastguard bases in Aberdeen and Shetland.
The Coastguard co-ordination centre at Lerwick is missing a third of its watchkeepers and Aberdeen is down by more than a quarter, according to the Public and Commercial Services union.
It said the Granite City centre was seven staff short of its full complement of 26, while Shetland had six fewer than the 18 it should have.
