Brown backs 50mph limit for A9 lorries
THE speed limit could be increased for lorries travelling on the A9 Inverness-Perth road under radical plans to cut the death toll, the Press and Journal can reveal.
Transport Minister Keith Brown has revealed that he would back moves to let heavy goods vehicles travel at up to 50mph on single-carriageway stretches, which currently have a 40mph limit.
The SNP minister said he was “as impatient as anyone” to see the deadly trunk road dualled – but insisted little could be done to bring forward the planned completion date of 2025.
